Artist Ian Davie uses swan feathers as a canvas for his intricate paintings.

Mr Davie, 44, collects the quills from a swannery near his home in Snowdonia National Park, Wales, and takes up to a week to create each work of art.

After cleaning the white feathers and individually straightening them out with tweezers, he then begins the arduous process of painting.

The former gamekeeper only picked up a paintbrush for the first time in 2004, and now his works sell for around £700 each.

He said: "I had a rather chequered work history before my art took off that included marketing and design, taxidermy, farming and working as a gamekeeper in and around Snowdonia.

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the   World   Trade   Center.

 It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault  craft.
 

Steel from the   World   Trade   Center was melted down in a foundry in   Amite, LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, 'those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,' recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. 'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.'

A young long tailed macaque monkey has been spotted in a forest protectively nuzzling and grooming a ginger kitten and making sure no harm came to it. The extraordinary sight was captured by amateur photographer Anne Young while on holiday at the Monkey Forest Park, in the Ubud region of Bali, Indonesia.

During the remarkable moments the monkey would become agitated if Anne ventured too near to take pictures and at one point used a huge leaf to try and cover the kitten from view.

The monkey was even wary of other macaques and would not allow other young males to get too close.

Dalton Ghetti makes sculptures out of pencils, including a tiny saw and a pencil whose center has been carved into a chain, which is framed.

Many artists have used pencils to create works of art - but Dalton Ghetti creates miniature masterpieces on the tips of pencil. Dalton, who works as a carpenter, has been making his tiny graphite works for about 25 years.

The 49 year old said: "At school I would carve a friend's name into the wood of a pencil and then give it to them as a present. Later, when I got into sculpture, I would make these huge pieces from things like wood, but decided I wanted to challenge myself by trying to make things as small as possible. I experimented sculpting with different materials, such as chalk, but one day I had an eureka moment and decided to carve into the graphite of a pencil".
